Alume Biosciences Education and Community Service

At our laboratory we have welcomed Visiting Scholars and Students from throughout the United States as well as other countries including Germany, Qatar, South Korea, Mexico. Through the Academic Resource Center at UCSD, we are able to support visa applications for any student interested in becoming a Visiting Scholar in our laboratory.

Meet the Student Scholars from our 2016-2017 Program:

Ayesha Khan

Ayesha is a fourth year Bioengineering: Biotechnology major interested in pursuing a career in Emergency Medicine. In addition to working with Dr. Nguyen on a project for nerve conduit assisted nerve regeneration, she is currently working with UCSD’s Emergency Department in a clinical research project on cancer-related pain management in the ER. She hopes to continue to pursue clinical research experience into medical school.

Hye Young Choi

Hye Young is a senior undergraduate studying Biochemistry/Cell Biology and Global Health. She hopes to attend medical school and obtain an MD/MPH to work as a physician and community health advocate for underserved communities.

Maha Zubaidi

Maha is a third year Physiology and Neuroscience major with plans to attend medical school.
